Malcolm Devin

General Manager

Malcolm has 20 years’ experience in the development and construction industry delivering high quality projects. Before joining BY Group, he was a Director at a global property and construction company.

As General Manager of BY Group, Malcolm has day-to-day involvement in the delivery of each project. He has a broad range of experience in all sectors and asset types of development and construction.

John Cheyney

Project Manager

Before joining BY Group, John was a Senior Project Manager for a NSW State Transport Agency working on infrastructure, rail, station, and commercial projects. John has worked for more than 18 years in the construction industry.

John has previous experience at a global property provider working on commercial fit-outs and hotel projects. John is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has 12 years of project management experience in Australia.

Lyle Harris

Project Manager

Lyle has 14 years' in the construction industry. He started his career as a residential carpenter and progressed to a management position within a national construction company. He has extensive experience working on commercial, industrial, technology, and residential projects.

Lyle is a licensed Builder with proven experience in design management, cost planning, financial management, programming, and team leadership. Lyle has won 4 Master Builder awards on completed projects.

Hylton Ward

Construction Manager

Hylton has 23 years of industry experience. He began his career with a carpentry apprenticeship in Auckland, NZ. When he completed his apprenticeship, Hylton then completed a Bachelor of Construction Management. He followed this qualification into site supervision, management and project management positions across multiple sectors before entering the Sydney construction industry in 2006.

Hylton has experience in single and multi-dwelling residential, industrial, civil, commercial, and retail fit-outs.

Melanie Champion

Administration, Communications & Marketing Manager

Melanie has more than 20 years’ experience in Project and Event Management, Communications and Marketing, Administration and Human Resource Management working with a range of small to medium business.

Melanie has extensive experience in communications strategy and planning, media management, policy drafting, press release drafting, social media marketing, website design, content production, stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, event management design and development of communication collateral, employee relations, and administration.

Melanie handles every aspect of BY Group marketing, communications, human resources, administration, and stake holder engagement. She supervises the day-to-day back-end operations of the business.

Melanie is passionate about the BY Group brand and message and delivers a streamlined approach to frontline communications and pro-actively implements efficient office operations to maximise quality and productivity.

Michael Allison

Safety & Compliance Manager

Michael Allison, Senior Safety Consultant and Trainer, has experience in training, auditing, security and is a Chief Safety trainer in all things from site-specific induction training,  forklift refresher, chain of responsibility in transport, to accredited first aid and HSR training.

Michael's experience extends across many industries including 15 Years in Defence, Construction, Transport and Logistics, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Driver Training and Security and Risk Management.

 Michael currently conducts audits for construction projects for NSW state government, banks, and Australia’s major airline. Michael also consults to large civil companies keeping them up to date with legislation and assisting with best practice procedures.

 With an extensive understanding of construction methodologies, Michael is able to actively manage quality through effective monitoring of internal processes on all BY Group sites.

Mark Duncan

Site Manager

Mark has more than 18 years of industry experience.

Mark is a results-orientated, quality-focused, and deadline driven He is a Site Manager with a proven record of success in managing various facets of building and construction within the commercial, industrial, and residential sector. Mark has completed multiple design and construction projects safely, to tight budgets, and on time.

With an established career in construction, Mark provides a clear vision and direction to assist in driving strong business growth and profitability, consistently researching information to achieve improved practices and procedures, with distinctive attention to detail and the application of experience and trained practices and processes.

Mark is self-motivated and his achievements are a result of his ability to work autonomously and as a team member.

James Woods

Project Engineer

James is a descendant of the Bundjalung and Yaegl Aboriginal Communities of Northern NSW where he holds ties to the Robinson, Webb, and Duroux families. Having been born and raised in Coffs Harbour, James has been a member of the Coffs Harbour & Districts Lands Council since late 2015.

James began his studies at Macquarie University where he secured a paid internship within the finance and Indigenous recruitment departments of Broad-spectrum. It was after starting at BY Group that he discovered his calling to construction, and transferred to the University of Technology, Sydney to start a Bachelor of Construction Management.

James has worked on a vast range of construction projects over the past 2 years and has gained extensive experience in Contract Administration and Project Management.

James’s personal goals and career aspirations are to provide prosperity for Aboriginal families and communities through the employment of Aboriginal Men and Women within the construction industry.

Liam Frank

Project Engineer

Liam  is a young Indigenous man hailing from the Hunter and Regional Aboriginal communities. Since graduating from a Bachelor of Constriction Project Management Liam has had 4 years experience working in the Construction Industry and has also obtained multiple  recognised industry certifications.

Liam is a driven and self motivated professional who is outcome and quality focused. His core construction skills include project coordination, planning, stakeholder management, site supervision and project delivery.

Liam’s technical knowledge and experience developed in tier one construction consists of a broad and interconnected understanding of many construction strategies and techniques including; Reinforced Concrete Structures (FRP), Composite Structures (Structural Steel), Programming (Microsoft Project), WHS Legislation and Site Logistics.

Zarc Lee

Contract Administrator

Zarc has worked for more than 10 years in the construction industry, working on residential and commercial projects. He was previously employed as Project Manager for a property developer in Singapore, and as an Estimator at Kolder Pty Ltd in Austalia.

Zarc is passionate about the construction industry and has had experience in property development, commercial fit-outs, and hotel projects.

Zarc has also completed a Bachelor of Business Management at the University of College Dublin, graduating with honours.

Monika Devcic

Contracts Administrator

Monika has over 7 years’ experience in the Construction Industry and has worked on a range of project types within the industry including residential and commercial fitouts, masterplanning and other major construction projects.


Monika is highly organised, has the ability to multi-task, and works well in high pressure environments, problem solving and balancing competing demands as required.

At BY Group Monika is pro-active and is able to negotiate with stakeholders at all levels. Her excellent negotiation skills allow her to drive efficiency, consistency, and value for money to maximise opportunities for procurement, delivery, and operational success across our projects.

Allynta Sutherland

Contract Administrator

Allynta is a proud descendant of the Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri tribes of Central-West NSW. Allynta was raised in the small country town of Coonabarabran before relocating to Sydney to study.

Allynta has experience working in hospitality and works a swimming coach in her spare time. BY Group is Allynta’s first corporate role.

Allynta is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Sydney.

Summer Dann

Cadet Contract Administrator

Summer is a proud descendant of the Yuin Nation along the Southern Eastern Seaboard through her mother. She is connected to the Wandandian tribes through to Tomakin, Murramarang Walbunja up to the Snowy Mountains Monero Ngarigo. Summer is also a Descendant of the Wajarri and Amangu through her father. Summer was raised in Wreck Bay before moving to Sydney to further her education.

Summer is a keen sportswoman. She currently plays rugby league for the Redfern All Blacks and she is in the training squad for South Sydney Women’s Rugby League team.

Summer started work at BY Group as a Cadet Contract Administrator in 2019.

Summer is hardworking and eager to learn and is excited about pursuing a career in the construction industry.

Matthew Cox

Foreman

Matt is a descendant of the Palawa People from Tasmania. We recruited Matt through our partners at Tribal Warrior. The Skills Matt learnt through Tribal Warrior allow Matt to thrive in his professional role.

Matt joined BY Group in 2015. Since then, he has gained extensive experience working on a range of projects.

Matt takes pride in his work and brings a positive attitude to our sites each day.

Stephen Williams

Foreman

Stephen is a proud descendant of the Yuin Nation and grew up on the South Coast of NSW.

Stephen has over 20 years’ experience working in the construction industry and has been working with BY Group since 2018 proving to be one of our hardest working on site employees.

Stephen is passionate and driven with the ability to think and act proactively and has a high commitment to safety.

Stephen successfully manages sub-contractors ensuring the timely delivery of high quality, safe construction work and works closely with Site and Project Managers to pre-empt and resolve construction issues on site.

Nathanial Hampton-Olive

Foreman

Nathanial is a proud descendant of the Yuin Nation along the Southern Eastern Seaboard with connections to the Bundjalung nation on the North Coast of NSW.

Nathanial has over 6 years’ experience in the construction Industry and is instrumental in ensuring our sites are run safely and efficiently. Nathanial is hardworking and driven and is passionate about ensuring site cleanliness and successful project delivery.

Jarrad Maynard

Apprentice Carpenter

Jarrad Maynard is a descendant of Gunditjmara and Gunai Kurnai tribes hailing from Gippsland Victoria.

Jarrad joined BY Group straight out of school and is currently in the process of completing his Carpentry Apprenticeship with us.

Jarrad is a hardworking self-starter, who is eager to learn and always puts his best foot forward.

As with all of our Cadets and Apprentices, Jarrad will be provided a mentor and extensive on the job training and flexibility and support him to complete his Apprenticeship to the best of his ability.
