Victor is as a proud Jaitmathung/Bundjalung man and a well-respected Aboriginal leader with extensive experience across community, government and corporate business sectors. 


Over the past 25 years, Victor has worked with a diverse range of indigenous-focused organisations, including the Commonwealth Employment Services, Mundarra Aboriginal Youth Service, Ja-Biah Aboriginal Residential Bail Support Program, Link-Up NSW and Tribal Warrior Association (TWA). 


Victor is passionate about working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and contributing to stabilizing individuals, families and whole communities, especially those who have been impacted by the Stolen Generation, and those struggling with addiction and past traumas.


Victor has experience facilitating workshops around healing circles, cultural resilience, working with and understanding Australia’s First People and mentoring and leadership TAFE accredited courses.


Victor will play a vital role is connecting Aboriginal people to employment, business and industries, whilst ensuring the necessary supports are in place.

Malcolm has 20 years’ experience in the development and construction industry delivering high quality projects. He was previously a Director at a global property and construction company.

As General Manager of BY Group, Malcolm has day to day involvement in the delivery of each project. He has a broad range of experience in all sectors and asset types of development and construction.

Lisa is a proud Wiradjuri Bundjalung woman, born and raised in and around Redfern local Aboriginal community. Lisa is a successful business owner, who has spent the past 4 years securing employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seekers across all industries. 

With over 25 years’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community engagement, Lisa is an expert in liaising and sourcing from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. She has strong corporate sector experience having worked with various ASX 100 companies. Lisa has relationships with many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses in Australia and is an advocate for supplier diversity.

Lisa has worked in many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations servicing a number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities at a local, regional, state and national level of business, health, legal and housing management.

Chris is a proud Noongah man and stems from a Royal Australian Navy Background having held many Executive assurance roles associated with the Department of Defence. Chris has represented and consulted on a wide range of varied domains including Configuration Management Control, Engineering Technical / Quality Assurance, Logistic Support Governance and Naval Maritime Safety Boards.

Chris also gained vast commercial acumen within his mid Defence career break working as various domains of finance and commercial practice. Chris in the past 5 years has consulted specifically in the safety governance domain, assisting businesses to implement newly introduced WHS requirements within their safety management systems.

Melanie Champion has had over 20 years’ experience in Project and Event Management, Communications and Marketing working with a range of small to medium business.

Melanie has extensive experience in communications strategy and planning, media management, policy drafting, press release drafting, social media marketing, website design, content production, stakeholder engagement, risk assessment, design

and development of communication collateral.

Melanie handles every aspect of BY Group marketing, communications and stake holder engagement. 

Melanie is passionate about the BY Group brand and message and delivers a streamlined approach to front-line communications.

John Cheyney

Previously a Senior Project Manager for a NSW State Transport Agency working on infrastructure, rail, station and commercial projects, John has worked for 18+ years in the construction industry. 

With previous experience at a global property provider working on commercial fit-outs and hotel projects. John is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has 12 years of project management experience in Australia.

Lyle has 14 years' in the construction industry and commenced his career as a residential carpenter and progressed to hold a management position within a national construction company. Working on commercial, industrial, technology and residential projects.


Lyle is a licensed Builder with proven experience in Design Management, Cost Planning, Financial Management, Programming & Team leadership. Lyle has won four Master Builder awards on completed projects.

Hylton has 23 years industry experience beginning his career with a carpentry apprenticeship in Auckland NZ. On completion of his apprenticeship


Hylton completed a Bachelor of Construction Management and followed this into site supervision, management and project management positions across multiple sectors before entering the Sydney construction industry in 2006.

Hylton has experience in residential (single & multi-dwelling), industrial, civil, commercial & retail fit-outs.

Mark is results orientated, quality focused and deadline driven Site manager with a proven record of success in managing various facets of building and construction within the commercial, industrial and residential sector, providing clear vision and direction to assist in driving strong business growth and profitability. 


With an established career history in construction, researching information to achieve improved practices and procedures, utilising distinctive attention to detail and the application of experience and trained practices and processes.


Mark’s achievements to date are a result of his motivated and committed personality coupled with his ability to work autonomously and as a team member.

Brendan is a proud Descendant of the Bundjalung nation.


Brendan played Rugby Union for the NSW Waratahs , ACT brumbies and represented Australia in the Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens winning a bronze medal. Brendan also played overseas in Italy for over 10 years and went on to become one of their top players in the European Cup.


After retiring, Brendan entered the Construction Industry and in 2014 launched By Group.


Brendan is a Director of By Group and also works within the business leading our team on various job sites.

Kyle is a proud Descendant of the Wiradjuri & Gamilaraay people of Central West & North West New South Wales where he holds ties to the Dunn, Sloan & Cowan families. 

Kyle was born and raised on the South Coast of NSW where he and his family have been custodians for generations. Kyle participated in various programs through Shellharbour Aboriginal Community Youth Association, and showcased his Culture through dance, song and stories within a renowned dance group from the south coast who have community connections to the Dharawal and Yuin Aboriginal Community. 

Kyle graduated Year 12 in 2017, from graduation Kyle was nominated and also received multiple awards from the Department of Education & Aboriginal Public School Awards, and the Northern Suburbs NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) for his continuous courage, commitment to Culture.


Kyle is currently completing his Certificate III in Business Administration.

James is a descendant of the Bundjalung & Yaegl Aboriginal Communities of Northern New South Wales where he holds ties to the Robinson, Webb and King families. Having been born and raised in Coffs Harbour, James is a member of the Coffs Harbour & Districts Lands Council since late 2015.


James attended Macquarie Universities Walunga Muru department upon which he commenced his studies with a focus on Indigenous Development. From there he secured a paid internship through Career Trackers within the finance and indigenous recruitment departments of Broad-spectrum. Having started at BY Group in late June, James’s personal goals and career aspirations are to provide prosperity for Aboriginal families and communities through the employment of Aboriginal Men and Women within the construction industry.

Matt has five year’s experience in the construction industry and is currently completing his studies. 


Matt is a descendant of the Palawa People from Tasmania. Matt was recruited through our partners at Tribal Warrior. Skills learnt through the Tribal Warrior are allowing Matt to thrive in his professional role.

Matt takes pride in his work and brings a positive attitude to our sites each day.

Allynta is a proud descendant of the Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri tribes of Central-West NSW.  Allynta was raised in the small country town of Coonabarabran before relocating to Sydney to further her education. 

Allynta has had experience working in hospitality and works a swimming coach in her spare time.


BY Group is Allynta’s first corporate job.


Allynta is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Sydney.

Zarc Lee has worked for 10+ years in the construction industry working on residential and commercial projects and was employed previously as Project Manager for a small property developer in Singapore, and as an Estimator at Kolder Pty Ltd in Austalia.


Zarc is passionate about the construction industry and has had experience in Property Development, Commercial Fit-outs and Hotel projects. 


Zarc has also completed a Bachelor of Business Management at the University of College Dublin graduating with honours.
