HMAS Albatross and HMAS Creswell Roads Remediation Project, NSW and ACT

Scope: 

HMAS Albatross and HMAS Creswell road remediation seeks primarily to rejuvenate the existing base road network. Works comprised of full depth pavement replacement in areas of pavement that show signs of extensive cracking and pavement failure. The full depth pavement replacement involved removing the aged and deteriorated existing asphalt and road base layers and constructing full depth pavement in its place. The new pavement works have been designed so that the proposed finished surface levels match into existing kerbs and gutters while providing compliant road cross-fall grades. pavement remediation is proposed to roads within the highest priority area of each Base.

 

Key Considerations:

1. Design and Construct from 90% detailed design
2. Pavement construction including subgrade replacement, subbase, base, primer seal and asphalt wearing course.
3. Reconstruction and realignment of Brown Avenue to improved safety standards
4. Stormwater pipes, swales and drains construction
5. Heritage Impact assessment and preservation of heritage kerbs and road furniture
6. Environmental management of environmentally sensitive area including sediment and erosion controls
7. Traffic Management including coordinated road closure program to minimise base operation impacts
8. Waste management and record keeping of contaminated spoils removal in compliance with EPA requirements
9. Management of Safety of high risk excavation and earthworks activities
10. Protection of existing services
11. Federal Safety Commission audited during construction
