Scope:
The Saints of Melanesia Building project marks BY Group and Hatanga Ltd’s second major Pacific partnership project, commissioned by the Anglican Church of Melanesia. Located in the heart of Honiara, this landmark development is set to deliver a modern three-storey provincial headquarters that will become a key administrative and community hub for the Church and the local region.
The project involves the full design and construction of a new three-storey commercial building, including site preparation, foundations, structural works, and associated civil and car park infrastructure.
Key elements of the scope include:
- Construction of a new three-storey provincial headquarters for the Anglican Church of Melanesia
- In-ground civil and hydraulic works
- Concrete footings, slabs and structural blockwork
- Lift shaft construction and waterproofing
- Car park slab construction and associated external works
The project has been progressing steadily, with major milestones including the completion of the western suspended slab, car park slabs and lift shaft walls through to Level 1.
Key Considerations:
Delivering a large-scale build in Honiara required strong collaboration and community engagement. The Saints of Melanesia Building project highlights BY Group’s and Hatanga Ltd’s shared commitment to local employment and sustainable growth.
Key project considerations include:
- Creation of over 50 new local jobs throughout the project’s delivery.
- Extensive use of local labour and materials, fostering long-term capability within the Solomon Islands construction sector.
- Coordination between BY Group, Hatanga Ltd and ACOM to maintain quality and cultural alignment throughout all project phases.
- Complex concrete and structural works carried out under challenging tropical conditions, with safety and precision maintained on-site.
- A focus on delivering a state-of-the-art facility that revitalises the Honiara CBD and contributes to economic and social development across the region
This project represents a major investment in local infrastructure while also standing as a testament to the enduring partnership between BY Group and Hatanga Ltd.
