BY Group delivered two modular amenities buildings for the Rose Mumbler Village aged care facility in North Nowra, providing clean and dirty laundry facilities, a dirty utility room and staff amenities.
The project included off-site prefabrication, on-site installation, accessible ramps, verandahs, pathways and associated electrical and water service upgrades.
Works were carefully staged within a live operational aged care environment to maintain resident safety, emergency access and uninterrupted facility operations. The project was completed with zero WHS incidents and achieved a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.
Delivering the project required careful planning and collaboration to manage several challenges:
Transport limitations: Buildings were prefabricated in halves to comply with physical transport constraints and permit restrictions from Transport for NSW, allowing movement only between 9am–1pm on the busy Princes Highway.
Prefabrication expertise: Although BY Group has in-house carpentry capabilities, this was the first major prefabrication design-and-construct project. Close engagement with local engineers and suppliers ensured efficient procurement and construction.
Operational site management: Working within a functioning retirement village required detailed stakeholder consultation, establishing cordon zones, careful scheduling of plant and truck movements and management of multiple onsite resources to minimise disruption to staff and residents.
